This is an album review on Seventeens new special album “Semicolon”.

Seventeen is a K-pop group who made their comeback with a new special album on 19th October 2020. The album is called Semicolon and it consists of 6 songs that are mostly written and composed by the members themselves. 4 of the album songs are sung by age-based units (Members born on – 95, – 96, – 97 and – 98 + – 99)

  • Seventeen is a 13-member self-producing K-pop (Korean pop) group who debuted under Pledis Entertainment in 2015.

The album contains a message to Carats (Seventeen fans) that is:
~ It’s ok to take a break and enjoy youth in the moment
Title track of the album is Home;Run which highlights perfectly the given message of the album.

  • New music releases in K-pop are usually referenced as comebacks

Home;Run

Home;Run is the title track of the album. It’s sung by all of the members and it’s mostly composed, written and choreographed by the members. Home;Run is a fun song to listen and dance to. It has meaningful lyrics and an overall great message to the listener. It fits my music taste perfectly with the exciting beat and meaningful lyrics. I could never get bored of this song.

Do Re Mi

Do Re Mi is the first unit song in the album. This unit consists of the 3 youngest members Seungkwan, Vernon and Dino Who all helped with the lyric writing and part of the composing. Do Re Mi is a very chill and easy song to listen to. It has very reassuring lyrics and a chill beat.

HEY BUDDY!

HEY BUDDY! Is the second unit song in the album. This unit consists of the 3 members who were born the year – 97 The8, Mingyu and DK. All the members in this unit helped with the lyric writing process. HEY BUDDY! Is a very positive upbeat song about friendship. This song really gives me an energy boost when I need it and reminds me not take things too seriously.

Light a flame (마음에 불을 지펴)

Light a flame is the third unit song in the album. This unit consists of the 4 members who were born the year – 96 Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo and Woozi. 3 of the members helped with the lyric writing and took part in the composing process. This song is more of a love song. The song has a slower and more romantic beat and the lyrics match well with the overall vibe. This is a song I like to listen to when I need to focus on something.

AH! Love

AH! Love is the fourth and last unit song in the album. The last unit consists of the 3 oldest members S.coups, Jeonghan and Joshua. All the members in this unit helped with the lyric writing process. AH! Love is also a love song but has more of a calm and chill vibe overall compared to Light a flame which has more of a passionate vibe. I Really enjoy listening to AH! Love even when I’m not in the best mental state.

All my love (겨우)

All my love is the last song in the album and is the second song sung by all of the members. The song is also partly composed and written by the members. This song has really reassuring lyrics and a beat that just carries you away. To me this song is the best from the whole album and I’ll never get tired of it. It’s the perfect song to wrap up the album.
I’ll be looking forward to any future seventeen content.
